July 2009 (09NB-208)
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is seeking comments regarding its plan to extend the collection of certain data from manufacturers and importers of automatic residential garage door operators.
In a Notice published in the July 8, 2009 issue of the Federal Register, the CPSC seeks to extend its authority to collect information from manufacturers and importers of these devices. The information includes the results of safety testing, as detailed in 16 CFR Part 1211, incorporating by reference the entrapment protection requirements found in Underwriters Laboratories Standard UL 325, Standard for Door, Drapery, Gate, Louver, and Window Operators and Systems.
The CPSC’s current authority to collect such information is set to expire on October 31, 2009. Comments on the proposed extension are due to the CPSC no later than September 8, 2009.
